Copy Editor, Localization & Translator

Spanish to English

Why hire a translator?

Three things a professional translator/editor can do for you:

Make you look better

You and/or your company will appear more professional with the help of a translator or editor and this will inspire greater confidence in your work – even if your product or service is unrelated to the written word.

This is especially important for a website, a connected blog post, or any promotional materials. Remember, you don’t get a second chance at making your first impression.

Save you time

Perhaps your English writing skills or those of a colleague or associate are advanced. You may be tempted to do your own translation or write your own content. Why not?

Consider this carefully. Is it worth it to spend hours looking for precisely the right way to express what you want to say in English? If this is not your area of expertise, then probably not. The finished product would still need editing or proofreading. Your time could be better spent elsewhere.

Help you retain clients and attract new opportunities

The services of a copyeditor and translation/localization professional can help you to keep clients, attract prospective clients, preserve your image among peers and colleagues, and safeguard opportunities to collaborate or expand.

What is Copy Editing?

Copy editing is basically reading over content to check for grammatical errors, nonsensical sentences, and incongruences in the text, and revising contents to improve readability and suitability. I specialize in perfecting content written by non-native speakers of English. The depth of editing required for most content I receive goes far beyond typo and punctuation correction (proofreading).

Localization

In addition to translation and editing, certain industries often require a service referred to as “localization,” which is the process of adapting content to a specific market or locale. In this case, when editing a translation, text is then modified, where required, to suit the target market. For example: slogans may need to be altered; graphics, design and layout of translated text may need to be adapted; currencies and units of measure might need to be converted; and proper local formats for dates, addresses, and phone numbers would be used.
